Final Round of the 2012 Top Notch Series, Revelation Raceway, Ontario, CA

This past weekend we headed to Ontario, CA to Revelation Raceway for the finals of the Top Notch Series. The Revelation track surface would prove to be difficult for all of the 10th scale drivers accustomed to running on a high-bite indoor clay surface. With ample lane space and a 200 ft straightaway, this would prove to be the biggest track in the series. There were approximately 130 entries for this round.

My competition for this race would include Jake Thayer, Nick Sava, Josh Mitchell, the Blais brothers Nick and Chris, David Jenson and most of the Tekno race team. I competed in two classes this round, 2WD Mod Buggy and 8th Scale eBuggy.

2WD Mod Buggy

We showed up early Saturday morning to get some practice time on the big track. The surface required drivers of all classes to be easy on the trigger, and proved to be very difficult to be consistent on. In the first round of qualifying, I went on to finish third, running my heat with a few mistakes. Round two would prove to be in my favor, as I ran a perfect run, claiming TQ honors for the main event by almost 2 seconds. I would start first in the A Main event, and I led the race from start to finish, again making no mistakes on the inconsistent and dusty surface. My TQ and win this round earned me the overall win for the series as well.

8th Scale E Buggy

The first round of qualifying was short lived for me, as I broke a front suspension arm on the second lap of my race. Round two was my chance to improve my standings, and I would go on to finish second in my race, qualifying second overall. The A Main event started well, but I made a mistake and dropped down to fifth place, while Jake Thayer took over second. I made a charge, trying to pick up a second place finish, but time ran out and I crossed the line third, 1 second behind second place. My overall points would get me the series win for 8th scale E Buggy.

I would like to congratulate my Kyosho teammate, Josh Mitchell, who went on to win the overall titles for Mod Truck and 4WD Mod Buggy. Josh also placed second in 2WD Mod Buggy.
